Happy You Are Here‘s mission is to introduce tools, techniques, and ideas to listeners that will help them live more fulfilling lives.
We regularly have listeners reaching out telling us how much a particular episode has impacted their wellbeing. I’m happy to invite you to be part of this. You have been invited to be a guest on the show because I believe you have something valuable to share with our audience and the opportunity to make real impact in their lives.
If you’re familiar with being interviewed, then great. Below will detail a bit of the show’s outline and technical details. If you’re new to podcasting, don’t worry. The show is purposefully designed to be laid back and conversational.
To record, we use Riverside FM to record audio and video. This allows us to record a separate feed of both audio and video from your computer and one from our computer. You don’t have to do anything but sign in on a Google Chrome browser. (It just sounds better once it’s done.)
Some general tips include:
- Wear headphones if you can to avoid feedback.
- Use an external mic if you have one– if not don’t worry about it.
- Turn off nearby air conditioning during the interview.
- A well lit room will make a world of difference for video quality.
- Make sure to close any other tabs or programs that are using your internet. There’s a huge difference even if you have a calendar or email tab open.
When we first join the video call, we won’t jump right into things. This is an opportunity for us to talk for a few minutes before recording begins. If you don’t feel comfortable recording the first time we connect, you’re welcome to schedule a call to chat over the phone first.
Once recordings starts, I will read the intro live and then the conversation will begin.
The conversation usually blooms organically. However, if there’s a lull I may fall back on some pre-prepared questions.
- What has been the single most impactful thing that has made your life feel more fulfilling?
- What do you do when you have fallen out of the good habits you have built for yourself?
- Who has been the biggest inspiration for you along your path?
Once time is coming to an end, I will steer the conversation to a natural close.
You will have the opportunity to share a few places where listeners can connect with you if they’d like and a final message to the audience. Please think about this ahead of time so you can send them wherever is most worthwhile for you.
If you have any specific things you’d like to cover, please let me know before the interview starts. That way I can try to naturally bring it up. If it doesn’t come up naturally, then we can discuss it at the end of the show.
We do our best to maximize the marketing opportunities for each episode, but make no guarantee that any specific deliverables will be created. It all depends on the bandwidth of our team.
Every episode gets posted to our site and fed to numerous podcast platforms as audio. Video interviews (assuming nothing went wrong with the video) will be posted to YouTube and sometimes to Facebook also.
Most episodes we grab an impactful audio/video clip and create a short version to promote the episode on social media. These are often the best thing to share as they’re very engaging on every social media platform. Here is a recent example without video. Here is one with video.
